Overview
Overview
Key Objective
To develop a streamlined platform that simplifies the logistical aspects of moving, enabling families to efficiently handle childcare, school enrollments, and utility setup—reducing stress and saving valuable time.
Problem
Moving is stressful and complex, especially for families juggling multiple responsibilities. It is so stressful, that 60% of people consider moving more stressful than a breakup or divorce. Current solutions overlook essential needs—like comparing schools, organizing tasks, and efficiently setting up utilities—leading to frustration and wasted time.
Key Objective
My goal was to develop a streamlined platform that simplifies the logistics of moving, enabling families to efficiently manage childcare, school enrollments, and utility setup, ultimately reducing stress and saving valuable time.

Research Goals
Uncover key pain points and unmet needs in managing non-physical aspects of moving (e.g., school enrollment, childcare, utilities).
Understand user behaviors, workflows, and stressors throughout the relocation process.
Competitive Analysis
Interview Insights
Trying to coordinate school enrollments, utilities, and moving logistics all at once is overwhelming. I wish there was one place that simplified everything.
– Participant from Minnesota
I spent hours searching for the best schools and daycares, jumping between multiple websites. It would be a game-changer if I could compare everything in one place.

Key Findings
Managing childcare and school enrollment during a move poses significant stress for families.
Beyond the emotional challenges of relocation, physical tasks such as packing and setting up utilities further add to the burden.
Implementing a centralized platform to streamline these processes and facilitate service comparisons would alleviate stress and enhance the moving experience.

Bridging Business Goals with User Needs
I began by identifying the core business need: helping families relocate with less stress. I mapped key features—like school comparisons, utility coordination, and dashboards—against user pain points gathered in interviews. Using “How Might We” statements, I aligned user needs with opportunities to simplify the moving process. This guided both content and feature prioritization, ensuring the product delivered emotional and logistical support.
How Might We…
…develop a platform that enables families to efficiently handle school enrollments, childcare arrangements, and utility setups, thereby alleviating the stress associated with moving?
...offer users tailored resources and tools that simplify relocation planning and enhance their decision-making process?
...design an intuitive experience that allows individuals and families to seamlessly compare local services, schools, and community amenities in their new area?
